Back when wedding showers were tame, Kitchen gadgets & Farmers Market Strawberries

I seem to jump around meaning subjects & topics.  By this age, I should have self acceptance of that.  Coming soon...more on topic...cottage decor.

My first time to the local Farmer's Market since the beginning of March.  The vendors had an awesome setup meaning Covid complaint.  The shoppers well, not so much.  But I can scoot quickly, shop & leave.

Which leads me to my next topic delicious strawberries grown in the Riverside area.  Most will get eaten fresh but I have prepared strawberries ready to go over shortcake for Memorial Day weekend.  I made a new shortcake recipe from that 60s cookbook.  You may remember me talking about it.  Baked funny, tasted funny.  Error in recipe.  All went in trash.

Vintage kitchen gadgets of which I have many are very useful and have retained their usefulness.  Not found everywhere is the strawberry huller (pictured) with original box. It works & works quickly.

Back when wedding showers were tame or tamer especially time & place I grew up there was a game.  Take a large tray and put 15 - 20 kitchen gadgets on it.  Walk around showing the group of ladies.  Take the tray away & ask them to write down all the gadgets they remember which is not as easy as it sounds.  But fast forward when I did this game for my niece's shower not too long ago, the strawberry huller (not in box) was a game stumper.  People remembered it but didn't know what it is called.  Try it if you can find one.
