Vintage Mounting Corners for Then and Now. A couple of Rambling Thoughts.

We are now closer to Christmas than not. Are we closer to a vaccine?  For everybody, I hope so. 1918 Spanish Flu ran its course in 2 years. Let's make our 100 years of science and progress shorten that.

Who Said? Cheap fabric, and dim lighting. That's how you move merchandise" Answer at the bottom.

I feel like I am in 'Etsy School' learning at home like a lot of our population. I am also working on my photos and displays. Some still turn out better than others. Etsy Link at top. I have been adding a lot of new items lately.

One Thing Has Nothing To Do With The Other

Nice to see when you first wake up. Love how green the plants are.

I have had these beautiful pieces for many years. Brooches have fallen out-of-favor the past few years even with the PBS shows being so popular. Two cameos, one hand painted lapel pin and a pair of rhinestone earrings. I don't wear these. I take them out every so often and look at them just because they are pretty. I, also, debate if I should put them in my Etsy Shop. When I can't decide, I put them away again for safe keeping.

It reminds me of a 1986 movie I saw the other night. Violets are Blue... Kevin Kline and Sissy Spacek. The best line in the whole movie was by John Kellogg when he was talking to his daughter. She said her then married boyfriend didn't choose to stay in the small town. Kellogg said (paraphrasing) that's how a lot of choices are made, by letting things happen.

And so it goes with this little box of favorite gems.

First tomatoes, Behind the Beauty, Booth 42 & Carrot Tops

Picked the first ones July 3. Odd shapes but sure do taste good.

Like many, I had fireworks this year as never before.  Three solid hours at least.  They were beautiful didn't have to leave the porch.  I felt sorry for the dogs everywhere. The other thing I thought about was how my high school history teacher tried to explain civil unrest. Now I see it and understand it. Beyond that beauty.
I went to the Antique Station yesterday to work on my booth. (#42). I am Covid reluctant with logical reasons. Nevertheless, I suited up and spent an hour tending my space. Did a lot of sanitizing spraying.
Blouses and other feminine clothes available. (S-XL). Two cat scarves on sale now!
 Vintage relish dish. Bright.
Strawberry plate from the Broadway Dept Store. Marked on back plus Made in Italy. Both great condition.

Carrots tops: (no photo)
I got this idea from a Chef on GGG (Guys Grocery Games). He chopped up some of the tops and put them in mashed potatoes. YUM. They make the potatoes pop. I added them to my meatloaf last week. I find the ones from the local Farmers Market have a lot of flavor. They keep well in the refrig.

60s expression, Mending, Patio Dining ,Taxes, Whimsy

I am no longer, frequently using the 60s expression..."Life is what happens as we make other plans." Odd as it sounds, I felt I was a jinxing myself.

I was downed by a small oil slick on my morning walk a couple of weeks ago. Lucky is my best word to say here.  I am mending. This spill took me to Urgent Care for X-rays. Normally, no big deal but they are a Covid testing place. I'm going to use that word lucky again. I know the man who runs the center & I was able to go in the back door & out the back door pretty quickly. A shatter but no broken bones.

A make-shift sling. My March tax appointment was cancelled & not rescheduled so I did my own taxes online with one arm. First time ever & a new accomplishment for me. Good self esteem building for the Inner Child.

This last Tuesday (oh, 3 days ago) a friend & I went out for a nice fish lunch to a nice restaurant. Sat on a nice patio. 'Nice' stops there. No social distancing of tables. Period. This was our first dining out since March.

Numbers, not the ones you want are going up here.  I do watch them.  The next patio dining experience will be in the City of Long Beach.

Photos: Whimsy post of a (WC Fields?) wine opener.  4" long. Lots of character in that face. Available in my Etsy shop, link up above.

Stop back between now & July 6. I'll have something fun to post.

Back to the 60s, White Still Life, Rolls, Store Bought Cake & Etsy

A good 60s expression that has recently come back into my frequent talk...Life is what happens as you make other plans.  Since the pandemic started, I have had a big plumbing bill and a good sized vet bill.  Today, went to the dentist to get two cavities filled (unusual for me to have cavities).  Next hurdle is my taxes.  Appointment was cancelled in March.  Are you having things like this just crop up during this time period?

On the lighter side today:

 White Still Life

Day before these were filled with Bridgeford yeast rolls.  Can you smell them?

The ONLY store bought cake that I like.  Do you have anything to add to this?

My best pictures so far on Etsy. I'm trying to reinvent myself.

Sold in one day. On its way to NC. Hollywood Regency wall pocket.

That's it.  Have a great weekend wherever you are in the coming back out stage.

Monarch butterfly comfortable & letting me take photos

Scroll down through the photos.  Look closely, butterfly is in every picture.  I was right next to her.
She (?) is on my blue Queen Anne's Lace bought at the Country Roads garden in Orange, CA.  They have the best good different plants.

 Keep going...

 She's there.
 Look closely.

Yep.

Like Gold

Can you read the sign?  Allen Tire Company, Long Beach, CA always has very clever signs.  Time appropriate.

I like this Pick Up idea

Today, I picked up flowers from Armstrong's Nursery, earlier in the week pet food from Unleashed & groceries from Ralphs. People also use a pick up pharmacy & pick up food to-go. I like this practice & hope the option continues after we are released back into the world.

Right place, right time

These fuchsia colored flowers are blooming to their heart's content.  Took a 1.5 mile walk today in Bixby Knolls.  Days like this give me energy.

The power of Bread good bread sourdough bread

This is the first food that I have gotten To-Go since our quarantine started. I did get a cup of coffee previously. Both from the same place. It is a coffee cafe near me & they bake their own bread & pastries. They are set up Covid 19 compliant & they are a quality place so I took a leap of faith.

Im talking about The Merchant (OOAK) in Long Beach, CA, Bixby Knolls neighborhood. I want to support our local businesses because we have so many Mom & Pop in this area. Baby steps...

Yes, it is delicious warm with butter!
